Depending on your medical condition, it may be necessary to take antibiotics beforehand. The skin around the injection site is carefully cleaned to prevent infection. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Arthrosamid is injected into the knee through six separate 1 ml syringes. Sometimes the drug is injected into two different sites, depending on your doctor's judgment. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

If you and your doctor decide that treatment with Arthrosamid\u00ae is appropriate, you will be given a tablet of antibiotics beforehand. This serves to eliminate the – admittedly very small – risk of infection (1 in 10,000). <\/p>

Next, your knee is carefully disinfected, such as with alcohol, and you are given a local anesthetic. This anesthetic can be ultrasound-guided to make even more sure that it enters the knee joint correctly, and not the soft tissue around the knee. Once properly positioned, the anesthetic needle remains in situ and a new syringe containing 1 ml of Arthrosamid\u00ae is connected. That syringe is changed six times, so you will receive a total of 6 ml of Arthrosamid\u00ae through a single needle. <\/p>

After the injection, a plaster is applied and you may stand up and go home. It is recommended to quietly move your knee shortly after the treatment – a short walk or briefly on the exercise bike is perfect – so that the Arthrosamid\u00ae can mix well with the joint fluid. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

What can you expect after Arthrosamid\u00ae treatment?\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Whether all symptoms disappear after treatment with Arthrosamid depends on the severity and type of symptoms you have. Not everyone experiences complete symptom relief, but many patients do notice a clear improvement. <\/p>

Research shows that people improve by an average of 15 to 25 points on a scale of 100. This measurement is done using a questionnaire (WOMAC) that assesses three areas: pain, stiffness, and daily function (such as walking, climbing stairs, getting up). <\/p>

An improvement of at least 9 points in pain, 6 points in function and 7 points in stiffness is considered noticeable and clinically relevant.<\/p>

Many people continue to benefit from the treatment in the longer term. After 5 years, the average improvement is: Pain: 15.6 points less, Stiffness: 21.6 points less and Function: 12.2 points better. <\/p>

In short: most patients experience long-term relief from their symptoms, although the effect varies from person to person.<\/p>

Suppose you experience pain, your knee feels stiff, and you have limited mobility and function less well \u2014 for example, because climbing stairs is difficult \u2014 then you initially score 80 points. Six months after treatment, you fill in the same list again and score, for example, 40 points. <\/p>

Everyone responds differently to treatment. Research shows that 80% of patients respond positively<\/strong> to Arthrosamid. Research has shown that there is a difference in treatment effect between younger and older patients. Younger patients, under the age of 60 respond positively 95% of the time while older patients, over the age of 70 respond positively 67% of the time.
