"Arthrosamid® got me moving again"

Jan Theunissen (age)

After a long period of “knee trouble” due to severe osteoarthritis, I received the Arthrosamid injection on Monday, October 9, 2023. Sport is important to me and for many years I thought that physical exercise was no longer possible for me and would cause too much trouble in the knees. Now I can teach, climb stairs, walk and ride a bike again without any problems. I have even done a 100-km tour on my road bike again and have been on skis. I kept track of my experiences in a journal; from daily reports, to reports by the week and later by the month.

"So the osteoarthritis persists, but now after six months my symptoms are just gone"

Martine Somberg - 54 Years

“Hello all, I am very happy to tell my story. I am Martine, 54 years old. I work as an operating assistant and am also a boot camp trainer. So movement is very important to me.

Due to osteoarthritis grade 3-4, I should actually be getting a knee replacement at age 54. However, I consider myself far too young and I still enjoy sports far too much. In November 2022, I received an injection of Arthrosamid®.

Arthrosamid® is still fairly new in the Netherlands. It is a barrier fluid. That means it stops the osteoarthritic substances that cause pain, fluid, inflammation and bone growth. So the osteoarthritis remains, but now after six months my symptoms are just gone. It probably works with one injection for up to four years, or longer.

The photo on the right was taken on May 18, 2023 in Kos. There I ran up and down the mountain without complaints.”

"Sports again 3 times a week thanks to treatment with Arthrosamid"

Marcel Wolfert (age)

“Sports, and mainly tennis, was my joy and my life. I was also very proficient at it. A few years ago, my knees started to bother me. During keyhole surgery, the orthopedist diagnosed a tear in the meniscus (which was immediately touched up) and damage to the cartilage (osteoarthritis) grade 4.

Nothing to do about it and still too young for new knees. Advice: no more girdling and no more skiing. Doubles was okay. Until two years ago, after a friendly doubles match, I had so much pain in both my knees that I could hardly go up or down the stairs for three weeks and walking also hurt. I stopped playing tennis.

Now, eight weeks after treatment with Arthrosamid®, I can paddle twice a week and walk 18 holes every weekend. The knees are going well. They are a little sensitive a day after sports, but that quickly goes away.”

Arthrosamid® is approved for the symptomatic treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Any patient with this condition may be suitable.
